Don't Do It

Happy New Year!

Hope you enjoyed yourself and are ready to rock!

 

You probably know by now that I’m not a big believer in the traditional ‘New year resolutions'.  In fact, I like to put a little new year resolution warning out each year to stop people falling for the hype.

 

Simply because 80%+ fail within a few weeks!

 

I get it…you want to re-focus, set some targets and make a difference this year.

 

BUT… the key is the way you go about it!

 

There are a few big mistakes people make.  One such mistake is making the same kind of noises, as you did this time last year…the same old resolutions…accept this year is going to be your year…blah blah…!!

 

Doing this is simply insane and will have a 99% failure rate.  You see, telling yourself every January you are making a specific change ‘this time’ is not only insane, it’s actually creating an attack on your own inner self belief, self-worth and confidence…which is the last thing you need if you want to improve things in any area of your life.

 

You need to tell yourself something different this time, you need your brain to light up different centres to work for you and make your subconscious listen to you, rather than dismiss you having another failed idea.

 

This is where we need to create a difference in what you are saying you are going to do.  Most people set ‘resolutions’ based purely on the outcome…going to lose weight, quit smoking, lose 2 dress sizes, get fit, be healthy etc...

 

BUT this is not the best way to get those things.  To get these outcomes it requires several changes to your behaviours first.  These actual changes in your behaviours (and therefore your actions!!!) should be your new focus and they should be something you are 100% willing, happy and need to change.

 

For example, you want to lose weight.   BUT… are you willing to make some changes to the way you eat & drink, start exercising regularly & commit to some simple lifestyle changes?

 

Be totally HONEST with yourself… if the answer is ‘no’ save that outcome for a time in your life that the honest answer is a YES because you will not achieve anything until the answer is YES.

 

If the answer is yes then you need to start with small changes that you can do easily to begin with…create some mini success’s, gain some momentum and when you are ready add in another little small habit change.

 

This is the way you will actually build confidence, self-esteem and belief in YOU…which is the prerequisite for even more success…and the positive cycle continues.

And by carrying on with that behavioural focus you will hit your outcome in no time…and you enjoy the journey too!! <

do something small today and give yourself credit for it.
